On Friday November 13, 2020, it was reported that the Bureau of Land Management would be issuing a Call for Nominations for the Coastal Plain Oil and Gas Leasing Program on Tuesday November 17, 2020.

The Call for Nominations is the first step of the formal lease sale process.Typically, the Call for Nominations period used to collect feedback from organizations and industry regarding which areas should be offered during a forthcoming lease sale.

A BLM official confirmed that the Call for Nominations for the Coastal Plain Oil and Gas Leasing Program will include a 30 day public comment ending on December 17, 2020.

The Call for Nominations is followed by a Lease Sale Notice and Detailed Statement of Sale which identifies the specific areas up for bid. This must be released 30 days prior to the scheduled date of sale.
